Tracei's manifesto,

My interaction with the digital world centres on the Internet, mainly for news, shopping, watching dvds and catch up tv  and also email, my mobile phone, to check up on my girls and text  and the radio which is on all night and morning, my oyster card travelling to and fro to uni and my debit card, which I use far to often.  During our week of being less digital dependent, I will not use the radio, the Internet, apart from uni related stuff, my phone will be on but I shall only answer if my daughters or their schs phone me. I will tell the girls of our detox, explaining to them to call only if its urgent. I will calculate a sum to withdraw from my bank before hand and not use my debit card, leaving it at home. My oyster I will use as I live in Tower Hamlets. Sorry Elettra, but the thought of riding a bike on London's road scares the hell out of me, plus I am not sure I could cope with the constant interaction with people all around me.
Just writing this, especially not being able to have no radio is already filling me with a sense of loss. The radio has been a big part of my life for many years. It is the key to the outside world, (Radio 5,4 and World Service) and the world being invited into my life under my rules. I feel more connected with the world, being a part of human conversion, even though I don't participate in phone in discussions

  1. I totally sympathise with that. Can't imagine a world without radio! Or cycling over Elephant and Castle roundabout. Shudder!
